Former assistant professor in the research center of applied mathematics of Ecole polytechnique from 2001 to 2007, Randal Douc has been since 2008 a professor of applied mathematics and statistics at Telecom SudParis. He was associate editor of the Annals of applied probablity from 2013 to 2018. His research interests mainly focus on theoretical aspects of inference in general Hidden Markov models, Markov chain and sequential Monte Carlo methods, and computable bounds for general Markov chains. He is the coauthor of two major books in the domain, Non Linear Time series: Theory, Methods and Applications with R Examples, and Markov chains
